The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is deeply saddened by the death of Dr. J. Fraser Mustard on November 16, 2011. He was 84.

Dr. Mustard was inducted into The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in 2003 for his groundbreaking research on the role of platelets in the coagulation of blood. He was a founding member of McMaster University Faculty of Medicine, later serving as a Dean of Medicine and Vice-President (Health Sciences). Dr. Mustard’s learning philosophy was that we go to school to learn how to continue to learn all through our professional lives. He was a founding father the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIAR), serving as its president for 14 years.
