Dr. Charles Thomas Beer passed away on June 15, 2010, in his 95th year.  He was inducted into The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in 1997 for his work in isolating the anti-cancer drug vinblastine.  Dr. Beer was a regular attendee at subsequent induction ceremonies honouring friends and colleagues alike.  He will be sadly missed.

A memorial lecture honouring Dr. Beer will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Diamond Lecture Theatre, BC Cancer Research Centre, 675 West 10th Avenue in Vancouver, followed by a reception.  Further details about his life can be found in his death notice in the Globe and Mail.
