Laureate Nomination Process

The call for nominations will commence in January each year and the deadline will be the last Monday in June.

Nominations must be submitted according to the following important guidelines:

  • For nominations made by individuals, two individuals must serve as the nominators and they are required to submit a nomination letter. Each nominator may submit their own letter, or they may submit one letter that is co-signed
  • For nominations made by an organization, one nomination letter signed on behalf of the organization is sufficient
  • A nomination form must also be completed with particular attention given to the citation in which the contribution(s) justifying the nominee’s induction into the Hall of Fame is clearly stated in 3-4 sentences or bulleted points. Download the editable PDF form and save to your desktop
  • A curriculum vitae or biography is mandatory
  • Optional supporting documents to a maximum of 8 pages may include letters of support, news and journal articles
  • Nominations remain active for three consecutive inductions and may be supplemented at any time during that period.

All material must be submitted to the CMHF by the deadline using one of the following two options:

    1. On CD or USB stick, by mail/courier
    2. In PDF format, by cmhf [at] cdnmedhall [dot] org (email)

If either of these options poses a problem for you, please call the CMHF office. We will help you find a solution.

    Laureate Selection Process

Once the nomination process closes, the CMHF compiles all active nominations and distributes a copy to each of the Selection Committee members at least three weeks before the committee convenes. The Selection Committee meets eight months prior to each induction to select the candidates.

Within one week of the CMHF Board of Directors ratifying the decision, the CMHF notifies each successful candidate (or next-of-kin). Within two weeks of the Selection Committee meeting, the CMHF notifies all nominators of the outcome of their nomination. Names will remain strictly confidential until a media announcement which will ordinarily occur within one (1) month of the Selection Committee meeting.
