Joanne Douglas

Dr. Joanne Douglas is a Clinical Professor Emeritus in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics at UBC.  She retired from clinical practice in 2008 but continues to mentor obstetric anesthesia fellows.  She has co-edited three textbooks, has numerous publications and has been an invited speaker to conferences around the world.  Dr. Douglas is a Member of the Order of Canada and has received the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society Gold Medal and the Distinguished Service Medal from the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology.  Until June 2018 she was the North American editor for the International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia.  She writes a monthly Newsletter on published obstetric anesthesia research which is distributed to over 200 obstetric anesthesiologists.  She is the proud grandmother of Erin, Sarah and Liam.
