Induction 2026
Calgary, AB – On Thursday, June 18, the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) will proudly induct six new Laureates whose exemplary leadership, integrity, and contributions to medicine and health have led to extraordinary advances in human health. Their achievements span breakthroughs in genetics and metabolic disease, transformative advances in stroke treatment, leadership in nutrition policy and chronic disease prevention, innovations in cancer biology and precision therapies, and groundbreaking research in diabetes care. Together, these trailblazers reinforce Canada’s role as a global leader in medical research, innovation, and health policy.
Heather Hiscox, former host of Morning Live on CBC News Network, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. The 2026 Induction Ceremony is presented by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), MD Financial Management Inc. (MD) and Scotiabank, who together are committed to supporting the medical profession and advancing health in Canada. As proof of this commitment, and in collaboration with the CMA and MD, Scotiabank is investing $115 million to support physicians and the communities they serve across Canada.
“It’s an honour to celebrate the achievements of this year’s inductees into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame,” said Dr. Margot Burnell, CMA president. “They have each contributed greatly to improving the quality and accessibility of health care for Canadians. Their dedication and achievements are significant and will continue to inspire future generations of clinicians. Congratulations to the 2026 Canadian Medical Hall of Fame inductees.”
“At its heart, the CMHF Induction Ceremony is about the lasting difference these remarkable leaders have made in patients’ lives,” says Dr. Todd Anderson, Dean of the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. “It is a privilege for the Cumming School of Medicine to host the 2026 ceremony and to honour individuals whose achievements have profoundly shaped patient care, strengthened medical practice, informed health policy and advanced health research across Canada and beyond.”
