The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame mourns the loss of Dr. F. Estelle R. Simons, a global leader in allergy and clinical immunology and a cherished Laureate of the Hall. Dr. Simons passed away on November 5, leaving behind a legacy that reshaped the scientific understanding and clinical management of allergic diseases worldwide.

Dr. Simons was internationally renowned for her career-long research on asthma, allergic rhinitis, and anaphylaxis. She led pioneering clinical pharmacology studies in patients of all ages, correlating blood concentrations with effects in vital organs and establishing the scientific basis for safe, effective dosing of many medications still used around the world today.

Dr. Simons’ innovative contributions and unwavering commitment transformed the field of allergy and immunology on an international scale. A leading authority on anaphylaxis, she conducted landmark epinephrine studies and became a trusted voice for evidence-based, science-driven care.

The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame extends its deepest condolences to Dr. Simons’ family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched through her pioneering research, leadership, and compassionate dedication to improving patient care. Her remarkable contributions will be forever remembered and celebrated.
