It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. James Till, a pioneering scientist and esteemed Laureate of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, who left us on May 18th. Dr. Till’s groundbreaking work in health sciences has left an indelible mark on the field of stem cell research and regenerative medicine.

Dr. James Till was renowned for his pioneering efforts in understanding the fundamental properties of stem cells, including their ability to self-renew and differentiate. His research, conducted in collaboration with colleagues such as Dr. Ernest McCulloch, provided the foundational knowledge that has propelled advances in cancer treatment, blood disorders, and regenerative therapies. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping modern approaches to treating a variety of hematological conditions.

The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame honors Dr. Till’s extraordinary contributions to health sciences and celebrates his role as a trailblazer in stem cell research. His work has not only transformed scientific understanding but has also provided hope to countless patients worldwide.
