Discovery Day @ Western - Volunteers Needed!

Friday, May 3, 2024

Interested in engaging with high school students? Read on!

In partnership with Western University, we are delighted to host this year's Discovery Day in Health Sciences on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Over 400 high school students and teachers from across the region will be on campus to explore careers in medicine and other sciences.

Event day volunteers are urgently needed to ensure another successful event. We welcome the involvement of Western students from any faculty/program.

High school students will attend a dynamic keynote lecture, participate in two interactive workshops of choice from a catalogue of options and join in discussion with a panel of academics/professionals from various related fields.

The hub of our day this year is the Arts & Humanities Building (AHB) 1R40, with workshops taking place across campus including Robarts Research Institute, University Hospital and Elborn College. Help is needed with the following:

...setup and registration outside AHB 1R40 (7:15 - 9:15 am)
...walking students from 1R40 to their morning and/or afternoon workshop, remaining with them for the 1.5 hour duration and then returning them to 1R40 (9:30 - 11:30 am and/or 12:00 - 2:00 pm)

Light refreshments will be available for our registration volunteers and lunch is provided to all.

If interested in helping out, please complete the form below. For those who sign up to walk students to a workshop, you will have the opportunity to select your session of interest in the form. See our online catalogue for session details.
