The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Board of Directors is currently recruiting a Director to serve as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. 

The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) celebrates Canadian heroes whose work advances health in Canada and the world. We foster future generations of health professionals through the delivery of local and national youth education programs and awards. This enduring tribute to our country’s rich medical history is showcased on our virtual hall at www.cdnmedhall.ca and in an exhibit hall in London, ON. 

CMHF is a national not-for-profit organization.  The Board of Directors is comprised of 16 volunteers from across Canada, with a diversity of governance and professional skills and experience.  Current Director profiles are available here: www.cdnmedhall.ca/directors

Skills and Experience: 

The ideal candidate for Treasurer and Chair, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, will have a Canadian CPA designation, with Board and Finance Committee leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector. This position is a Board Officer and serves on the Executive Committee.  

Time Commitment: 

The estimated time commitment for this position is approximately five hours per month, including background preparation and virtual meeting attendance. 

As Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, the Treasurer will lead 10 monthly one-hour virtual meetings of a sub-committee of non-Director community members with specific expertise in audit, investment, insurance, and risk, providing oversight and guidance to a small staff secretariat.  Each quarter, the sub-committee will be joined by three other Board Directors to provide oversight and recommendations to the Board related to budget, audit, investments and organizational risk.  

The Treasurer and Chair of Finance, Audit and Risk will also be expected to attend quarterly one-hour virtual meetings of the Executive Committee and quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors, including one in-person meeting following the annual Laureate Induction Ceremony in rotating cities across Canada.  

This individual may serve up to two three-year terms as a Director.
